Social Responsibility

Driven by our purpose to enhance and sustain the world’s built, natural and social environments, we are committed to using our expertise to make the world a better place.

We deliver on this commitment by donating paid professional or technical services, as well as fundraising and matching contributions to support various causes.

After 2008’s earthquake in China and tragic cyclone in Myanmar, AECOM provided a corporate match for relief and recovery efforts, and we continue to provide assistance and pro-bono services for the cause.

As part of our corporate commitment, our professionals become personally involved in their local communities, which allows us to better understand the needs and desires of our communities. We work with local, regional and national governments, charitable organizations, hospitals and schools to develop and deliver awareness programs that help communities make informed choices.

For example, our experts volunteer as mentors for the Architecture, Construction, Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program with the purpose of expanding high-school students' career and industry knowledge through presentations, as well as tours of architecture and engineering offices, and construction sites.

With a fusion of science, engineering and design solutions, our team of experts works to incorporate sustainability into every project in order to shape a better tomorrow.

For example, AECOM has partnered with the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT), which works to preserve the unique, traditional culture and environment of the Maasai People in Africa by promoting conservation, education and health services within the community. In addition to providing an evolving pro-bono program, including strategic organizational planning, conservation strategy, and business and marketing guidance, nine of our employees participated in the 2009 26.2-mile ING NYC Marathon to raise funds for the trust.
